The city of Vic is promoting “Instruments of the Soul”, a cultural project that offers a contemporary perspective on the relationship between spirituality, objects and artistic creation. The initiative is based on the idea that, both in the past and in the present, objects and material practices act as mediators between everyday life and the transcendent dimension.

The project invites reflection on how Vic’s spiritual landscape has evolved and on how different denominations, practices and sensibilities coexist in the city today. Against this backdrop, “Instruments of the Soul” opens up a space for dialogue between religious communities, practising individuals and contemporary artists in order to explore new languages and new forms of symbolic mediation.

The initiative runs from January to June 2026 and is organised by the MEV, Museu d’Art Medieval, with the participation of cultural and social stakeholders from the city. The project is supported through the mediation of Casal Claret and the Department of Citizenship of Vic City Council, and it highlights culture and the arts as tools for social cohesion and for fostering encounters between diverse realities.

One of the project’s central strands is the exhibition “Instruments of the Soul Today in Vic”, presented at the Museu de l’Art de la Pell, which forms part of a broader process of research, listening and co-creation. Through meetings between communities and artists, the initiative has made it possible to identify both shared points and the singularity of each tradition, generating new pieces and artistic proposals linked to contemporary spiritual experiences.

In addition to the exhibition, the project extends to other spaces, organisations and groups across the city, with the aim of becoming naturally integrated into Vic’s cultural life and encouraging broad and diverse participation. Cultural venues, artists, and various places of worship and spiritual communities present in the municipality are all taking part.

With “Instruments of the Soul”, Vic becomes the setting for an innovative initiative that brings together heritage, contemporary thought and spiritual plurality, and which positions art as a space for relationship, listening and collective construction.
