Late 14th - early 15th century
This is a variation on the MEV 542, made with the same type of shaft and arms, but with a rectangular plate with vertical sides cut out in the shape of stepped crenellations, which stands on legs ending in round feet. The Museu Cau Ferrat in Sitges conserves an example that has the plate with the vertices folded over, forming the typical spout of oil lamps (MCFS 30919). A pair of identical candlesticks appears depicted in the scene of the resurrection of the drowned child on the altarpiece of the brotherhood of Saint Nicholas, from La Seu in Manresa, painted by Jaume Cabrera between 1406 and 1412.
