Anonymous
17th century
This piece has been considered a baptismal font, a possibility that cannot be confirmed but which seems reasonable due to its formal resemblance to other pieces from Talavera, Aragon, etc., which we know were. The children that make up its main theme are also a motif that reinforces this supposition. It is a very original work. Its design places it at about the end of the Renaissance or the beginning of the Baroque. The decoration in negative, white on a blue ground, is another of its singularities, as it is most uncommon. Whatever the case, it is a non-mass-produced and very original piece.
